QUACK QUACK QUACK -iPhone duck alarm is relentless and perky.
Woke up at 6:30. Hardly slept. Nerves or the coffee gelato I had after dinner. Had 1/2 of an instant oatmeal cup that i didnt like.
I am in Chair 14. It reclines and is comfortable. There is a little table on my right, and a TV on a swing arm on my left. There is a curtain between me and the person next to me. I have a view of the nurses station. The ones i have met are all really nice. Allyson and Danielle maybe. Plus Allie the chemo expert. Different Allie.
I am finally hooked up. They use the port that was inserted under my skin last week. I have to put Lidocaine on it to numb it first. I got here at 8 am and first they took a lot of blood, then I met with the clinical trial nurse Jill, and the Chemo nurse Allie while they sent my blood to the lab. Once my blood checks out ok, they order the drugs. I am having one of the immunotherapy drugs first, and today that will be very slow. I also met with the social worker, who came to see me, and we talked all about the BRCA gene test. So, I gave more blood for that and it will take about 3 weeks. ( it took two and I do not have the genes!! )
Also I was told that i could get a patch or a shot ( it is called Neulastin), that would keep my white blood cells up but it can cause distressing bone pain. With this med they arent sure if I would need it so I opted NO for now. I think thats what they said I would need the Claritin for - taken for five days before hand. It mitigates the pain, which is strange.
Pretuzimab - I had first immunotherapy infusion but I have to sit for an hour while they just watch me with no drugs. Then the second one I think, then the real chemo poison. I sent Alan to buy bulbs for my ceiling lights. Then he will go to my condo to hang out. He asked if there was anything he could CLEAN!!
Turns out he didnt have my door key so he went to lunch.
